Changelog
What's changed
Every change to a rate, a rule or a calculation, newest first. If a figure you saw earlier looks different now, this is where to find out why.
-
- New calculators: capital gains tax (2027 rules), negative gearing, sell or keep, and new build vs established.
- New guides: negative gearing changes 2026 (with a grandfathering check) and capital gains tax changes 2027.
- New calculators: the 30% minimum tax on capital gains, and 30 June 2027 valuation vs Treasury's formula.
- Added Treasury's draft apportioning method for the 30 June 2027 value. It reproduces the determination's worked example to the cent.
- Added the income support exemption from the 30% minimum tax on capital gains.
- Fixed: the analysis page failed to load when weekly rent was $1,000 or more.
- Corrected: a home bought before Budget night stays grandfathered when it is first rented out. This is law under the Tax Reform No. 2 Act (s26-155(3AA)), not a draft as we first said.
-
- Relaunch on a new engine: every state's 2026-27 transfer duty, title fees, land tax, first home buyer concessions and grants, LMI, and the 2026 negative gearing and CGT reforms.
- Income tax for 2025-26 to 2027-28, including the 15% and 14% bottom rates and the Working Australians tax offset.
