First home buyer stamp duty in the NT

The Territory has no first home duty concession. Its help for first home buyers comes as the HomeGrown Territory grant on new homes and an exemption for house-and-land packages.

Stamp duty for first home buyers

First home buyers pay the same duty as everyone else in the NT. The exception is a house-and-land package bought from a builder under a contract signed by 30 June 2027, which can be fully exempt; it covers detached houses only.

The HomeGrown Territory grant is $50,000 for contracts on brand-new homes signed by 30 September 2027. After that the standard $10,000 grant applies.
